Since Tachibana's powers can be a bit invasive and can become a nuisance to people that wish to engage in a fight with him, think of this guy more like a psychic wizard than an Alter user.

His powers include:

Asuka has many abilities that are a branch off from his primary ability to summon eight jade balls that he can form from any matter around him. This is known as his Alter Power called Eternity 8. He can form up to 8 of these balls about the size of a softball in size or close to the size of grapefruits. He can condense the size to about that of golf balls. (Which, by the way, his power is the butt of many jokes concerning the balls themselves despite their uses.)

He can only use these balls to manipulate living things but it comes at a cost. The more spheres he summons, the quickly he tires. Despite the orbs versatility as tools, weapons, life-force manipulators and healing, they do drain his physical body since he has to use his body and mind to control them.

- Mind Control: Tachibana can control as many as eight individuals, coinciding with the number of orbs he can summon, at one time. However, the greater the number, the greater the mental drain that he will suffer from. They have to be living in order for this to work. He can use unconscious individuals much the same way as a puppeteer can use puppets. However, if a person exhibits a stronger mental fortitude, he can use more than one to break down their wall and only for as long as Tachibana can maintain that hold.

Controlling minds of individuals does greatly restrict him in combat and therefore he is forced to hide while he performs Mind Control. He could use the mind-slaves for combat purposes but there's a catch. The mind-slaves would perform the same action which would make them appear as if they are mirroring each other than acting as individuals would in a combat situation.

- Ring Platform: Tachibana can transmute the Eternity 8 into a high energy ring that would allow him to levitate in order to perform "tactical retreats". He can also use this ring to cut down obstacles that pose a threat to him, but prefers not to use it for that purpose against living things. When he has the ring in use, he can't summon any orbs. This flying "disk" can travel at high speeds and last as long as Tachibana can control it which is generally for short distances.

- Luminance: This is a very low powered ability that he can use to on the summoned orbs. He can make the spheres glow as long as he remains conscious. In combat, they can remain glowing, but it will drain him a bit faster since he would have to use three abilities at once; keeping the spheres tangible, making them glow and using them for combat.

- Healing Boost: He can heal up to eight individuals at one time, but the cost to his body depends up on the injuries sustained and it drains him considerably. The concentration used to heal is taxing. In the series, he healed up to 40 people and passed out shortly after healing these people fully. These orbs can also heal fatigue, mental exhaustion, serious wounds, broken bones, coma, poison, intoxication, drug overdose, frost bite, burns, internal bleeding, and illness. As long as the subject has a pulse, he can heal them dramatically. However, it cannot heal mental illness, possession or intelligence issues. He can heal the pain associated with these issues but nothing more.

- Eternity 8 Ring: Tachibana can create a ring that would allow him to lift an individual about the ground either to prevent attack or to get a person out of a dangerous situation. This is also called Eternity Arrest. The binding ring is nearly impossible to break free unless the individual captured has greater than the strength of the ring itself and that depends greatly upon Tachibana's physical condition. In good health, the ring has the same tensile strength as a steel ring one inch thick. At his weakest, it has the strength of balsam wood.

- Eternity 8 Shield: Tachibana has the ability to create a shield using the eight Treasure Balls and he can make this shield as condensed or as wide as he chooses by controlling the orbit and speed of the Treasure Balls. The more condensed the shield, the more powerful the attack it can repel. However, the condensed shield is only as strong as his body can sustain. Meaning, if the attack is powerful enough to tear chunks from the ground, as long as his body isn't fatigued he can hold up against this attack. The wider the shield, the weaker it becomes.

- Eternity 8 Sword: By aligning the eight Treasure Balls in a straight line, he can manipulate the energy into a semi-plasma state that can cut through virtually anything. However, like the shield, if he's too taxed, the sword may not be as strong or last as long against an attack if his body is taxed.

- Eternity Extra Shot: Tachibana can reconstruct more material to create a bow that attaches to his left wrist. With this bow, he can align the Treasure Balls in a straight line like an arrow. Aiming for the head of his target primarily, he can erase memories, break mental conditions or wipe the mind completely which leaves the victim a drooling, and rather unintelligent creature that can be re-conditioned into someone else. He could also read thoughts from this attack depending on the mental fortitude of the target.

If you have a character that is psychic in comparison, it's a good idea to talk it over some pretty interesting side-effects on both ends.

Considering that his mind control can become an issue, if he succeeds in pulling it off on your character, what would he see and would it last long in his mind? Is he able to use your character as a puppet should the situation become necessary? Can he use his mind control to get your character out of a dangerous situation or to prevent an escalated conflict?

I thank you ahead of time for your cooperation.

If he pokes through Chuck's mind ([personal profile] passengerseatdriver), he'll catch glimpses of both gleaming Detroit Deluxe in all its faux utopian glory and Motorcity in all it's free-but-not-always-nice grunge. Whether it lasts long is up to you.

Poking through Liz's mind ([personal profile] deatheagle) will show memories of soul resonance with her sister and with Kid. It's a stable link built on mutual admiration, respect, and love. Not sure how that would impact him.

Poking through Vekk's mind ([personal profile] asuran_hero)...might lead to a headache. He's got a lot of technological junk crammed in there along with his personal research, etc. You might also catch glimpses of his stormy relationship with his father Gadd who always called Vekk a disappointment. Not sure how you'd react.

Just gonna add my latest character to the list for you to poke with. :D

Lord Death: Most head-poking will find memories of the past when he personally hunted down the souls of the damned. (Aka when Death was truly a terrifying person to be around. They were called the "Grim Times" for a reason.) He'd also find memories of sealing away Asura at the end of that period: joyous memories of Asura's feasting on the souls of the innocent and Death punishing him by ripping off all his skin, draining his body of blood, and then sealing up Asura's exsanguinated body and soul into a bag made of aforementioned ripped-off skin. JOYOUS, RIGHT?

However, those memories will be balanced with an equal number of positive memories. Building the school. Watching Death City grow and thrive. The friends he made and ultimately lost over the centuries though he remembers them with fondness. Raising a son of his own. On and on. There's 800 years worth of good memories to balance out just as many if not more of bad ones.

Not sure how Asuka will deal with that.
healeveryone: Smile. (if I can stay here like this)

Mind control is cool, just talk to me first; if he does it, probably the most noteworthy thing is that Rosalia's blood has special (and potentially dangerous) properties and so she's going to be constantly worried about getting injured/bleeding on things. Not sure if there's anything else - I'm canon-blind, so I don't know the exact nature of what Tachibana sees in minds.
healeveryone: Another "resting among flowers" icon. (the beginning)

[personal profile] healeveryone 2012-10-07 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, I should clarify - it shouldn't be anything immediately threatening, sorry! Rosalia's blood will be dangerous if it gets into somebody else's body; based on the "what would he see" thing I'm assuming that there'd be some level of her consciousness/mind/whatever remaining in the case of mind control (and please correct me if I'm wrong!) so mostly it'd stick out that she's trying to be SUPER CAREFUL at all times.
healeveryone: Conversational smile. (it's really funny)

[personal profile] healeveryone 2012-10-07 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, whoops! Misunderstood that slightly then. I guess the same thing still sort of applies, though - being careful is going to be a constant thing. So Rose'll be avoiding trouble when possible, but if the situation comes up things are A-okay with me!
healeveryone: Rosalia and her brother. (hey hey big bro)

[personal profile] healeveryone 2012-10-08 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, um. I never actually considered that! I think for now I want to stick with the virus, since it's an important part of her character and could maybe get used for plot purposes sometime down the road. I'll keep this in mind, though!
healeveryone: Resting among the flowers. (sleeping in bloom)

She's not actually as careful about everything else, it's just that once you've gone through one pandemic you'd really rather prevent another. FUN TIMES.

Anyway, yes! I'm not sure if plots actually will happen, but one of my concerns for the possibility that they do is that the virus will be hard to deal with if it gets out. This is very good!
