"I DON'T CARE!" Asuka yelled with his fists clinched. The torment he felt inside boiled over. His olive colored eyes brimmed with tears, is chin lowered. His voice dropped to a near whisper. "He would have wanted it this way."
It has been six years since HOLY was disbanded. The news of Ryuhou's appearance in the Central Territories forced the Life Force Alter known as Eternity 8 now had a codename, Infinity. He didn't hide his ability any longer. Those he had helped knew of his power and how he used it. His interrogation was more frightening than before.
Tetsuya looked on with wide eyes. He saw Asuka's clinched fist. The resolve alone nearly pushed down barriers. Asuka was much stronger now than ever. As long as Ryuhou and Kazuma fought for their freedom from the Mainland, Asuka was willing to do the same. They became known as the Trinity when they fought together in the same space.
Two years ago, Asuka wouldn't have thought for an instant that he would ever become this strong. He could feel life around him before. Now, he could sense more. As Asuka grew, so did his power and he healed them. He became the foundation for Trinity.
Tetsuya could only nod as Asuka prepared to meet with the two in the battlefield.
"Please understand, if they weren't out there fighting to ensure our freedom, we would all be under the boots of the Mainland. As long as we Alters exist, they will continue to come. I have to go to them to keep them ready. They're sending out more as those clones are continued to be produced. Just the thought of people being mass produced like this makes me sick." Asuka sneered, his words forced through a tightened jaw.
"I know that, but why you?" The young teen came to know Asuka as an older brother and his protector.
"Because...no one else can. Elian and Urizane will look after this place while I'm gone. You can trust them. Elian can hide this village from their sensors. Urizane can hide everyone with his power. Give them a chance." Asuka gave one last smile before he turned to walk out the door.
Cougar would have wanted it this way. Asuka thought to himself. Your brother is fighting to protect this place. You should be proud just as I am proud to be a part of Trinity.
Now, at the age of 22, Asuka couldn't be more certain. Donning his modified HOLY uniform that comprised of armored elbow, knee and shoulders, his Alter did the rest. He didn't need a rifle. Kanami, Cammy and Mimori watched Asuka leave the village from the fields. Cammy, now heavily pregnant with their first child, blinked in near horror.
"Where is he going?" Cammy said sadly. She knew the risks marrying an Alter user and she was mentally prepared for the day that Asuka may not return.
Kanami smiled and looked at Cammy and placed a reassuring hand on hers. "He'll be okay. He's going to help Kazu-kun and Ryu-kun. He'll come home. He always does. His job is important and he has you."
Mimori offered her own explanation in response with a smile. "That's right. He knows his place is here and he has to protect it. Now, that you're having your first baby, it's pretty exciting and he'll definitely want to come back."
"I know, but..." Cammy clinched her fist to her heart. "he works so hard for all of us. I wish I could help him."
"You are." Kanami said calmly. "Just being his wife and providing a good home is all he needs. I know he loves you. I can hear his thoughts. He said that he wants you to not worry. He'll be home soon. He's much stronger now that he will come home and so will my Kazu-kun and Mimori's Ryuhou. It's because they love us that they keep fighting."
"I see." Cammy smiled serenely. "We just don't talk about it that much."
"You don't have to. As long as the three of them live, we'll be okay." Elian said in his approach.
"Elian!" Kanami smiled and looked at the now 20 year-old Elian that stood a head shorter than Kanami. "Where's Urizane?"
"Oh, you know him, he's still attending the melons. He said something about them being the fabric of life. I just don't get it." Elian said flatly. Since his DNA was messed with to refine his Alter power in a biological level, his growth was stunted and could never grow any taller than his height of 4 feet nine inches. He was still formidable even if he was underestimated. It didn't bother him.
"I see. At least we'll have a good harvest." Kanami smiled brightly.
Elian's passive expression looked to the sky. "They're certainly really strong. I can feel it. It's weird. No matter how far they are, we can feel safe."
