2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate? He can think very well on his feet, almost reflexively so, which makes him a very tough opponent when he chooses to fight.

He does show in interest in medicine and civil service as a Planning Committee Chairman later in canon as he helps the people of the Lost Ground rebuild their homes.

13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person? The first defining moment was when his mother left him and his father behind to move back to the Mainland when her documents were found.

The second was the death of is father when a rouge Native Alter user came to his village and destroyed the shrine his father was working on. Asuka had hidden his powers then until that day and he took action, lost the battle, the Native Alter user vanished that resulted in Asuka's capture. He was eventually recruited into HOLY's ranks and registered as a B-Class Alter user.

His third was meeting Cammy that eventually lead to his engagement to her. His hopes of having a normal life was restored.

The fourth, was his fight with Kazuma that made him doubt his abilities which the second battle with the man turned him around to take a stand instead of wallowing in his defeat.

The fifth, his decision to stay behind to help the villagers rebuild their town and protect them should they need his help was the biggest turning point. He learned just how important it was to not dive into a battle he knew he couldn't win and live to help those in need in the long run which made humans trust Alter users just that much more.

14. What does he fear? Failure and losing everything that he fought so hard to obtain.
Eventually, this changes into resolution and a drive to not let those issues bother him and strive to become more.

15. What are his hopes or aspirations? To live and have a family in a world where there was no more war.

16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him? Asuka used to have a very sadistic side to him that was seen during interrogations. His method was to take over the mind of who he was interrogating, obtain the information by force and grin at his success. That wasn't the only thing. Once inside the minds of his victims, he poked around to find secrets and used those as blackmail should anyone step out of line.

It worked for a while until Commander Zigmarl caught on to his tactics and gave him an ultimatum. Considering his failure to bring in Kazuma, he was exiled for not only his behavior, it was also for his disobedience to orders when the Commander explicitely stated that he didn't want anyone acting out on their own without permission, which was what Asuka had done.

3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand? This does not apply. His blood family on both his mother's and father's side he never met since they were on the Mainland and in essence separated from any other relatives.

4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them? He considered Straight Cougar like an annoying big brother, Mimori Kiryu a really close friend and almost sister even though they worked very well together and the chemistry between them was nearly strong enough to start a closer, deeper relationship.

5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet? Mimori Kiryu

6. Does he have other close friends? Scheris was one, Straight Cougar and eventually Kazuma and Ryuho. Kanami he thought of as a friend and little sister.

Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does he fit type? Cancer/Rat. The Cancer sign shows through is protective, nurturing side where he's often sensitive to the needs of others and works to make people as happy and as comfortable as possible. The rat is seen through his cunning and meticulous nature in the matters of money and how he uses his powers.

He can be manipulative which is a trait among those born under the sign of the rat. He had shown this side of him and was quickly thwarted and dispatched as a result by Kazuma's hand.

2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life? Spiritual. His father was a shrine keeper and it followed through in his life outside of HOLY.

3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it? Yes. He strongly believes that in order to obtain a goal, sometimes sacrifices must be made. He believe strongly in the "live and let live" philosophy after his exile. It took some time to see this and made a conscious effort to learn how to not live strictly by the book.

4. How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent? During his time at HOLY, he was intolerant. His exile changed this view to tolerance and curiosity. He asks questions and tries to relate their reasons and apply them to his own life. However, this doesn't mean that he's a doormat. It simply means that he tries to see their point of view in a more practical way to understand where the other party is coming from even painfully if necessary.

5. What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them? He used to be very stern in his thinking that unhappy people are always unhappy because they don't understand nor want to understand his point of view. Later this changes to the point of view that happiness is relative to the person that wishes to achieve it and not through the force of others.

Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt? Asuka originally started life living poorly, living day by day on donations from his father's shrine. Once a member of HOLY, everything was provided for him and therefore his attitued toward those living outside the wall was viewed with nothing but hatred and malice. Once he lost all that and was forced back into living as a Native Alter, he changed his view and respected his station as a broker. He lived comfortably but not as he once did as a member of HOLY which humbled him considerably.

2. What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him? He's an Alter user, and Alter users really have no station other than in HOLY.

3. Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others? As a child, he lived in what looked like a modified trailer. Then he moved to an apartment provided by HOLY. Exiled, he lived in a small house where he stashed stolen goods that he distributed among those that normally couldn't afford them for a price.

4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on? He rarely buys anything that he doesn't really need and saves the rest in case he falls under hard times.

5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else? Before, he was one of the leading interrogating officers in charge of finding Native Alters then later wiping their minds of ever being in contact with HOLY for preparation to be sent to what he thought was a prison. Instead, he later discovers that they were being sent off to the Mainland for experimentation while lower lever Alters were being conditioned to become Elian's DARS units.

Now, he's a broker for stolen goods absconded by bandits for redistribution to those that normally couldn't afford the goods for a profit.

6. What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time? Asuka likes to breed Alter foxes, mutated foxes that have two tails and can use Alter abilities. He also scouts the wildlife through the use of his power to determine how many creatures still exist and catalogs them for study in their natural surroundings.

7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods? Asuka generally has a pretty healthy diet. He stays away from alcohol and avoids eating too much beef since it's relatively expensive, hard to obtain and restricts himself to once a week.
